Could the pop star choose an Australian designer for her big day?
Taylor Swift’s love affair with Australian designers stretches back further than her relationship with her footballer fiance Travis Kelce.
In 2010, when the revered singer was reportedly dating John Mayer, she wore a Collette Dinnigan dress and has gone on to wear pieces from sass & bide, St Agni, Meshki and Venroy.
Rumours are swirling that Swift will marry Kelce either on June 13 or July 3 in New York or Rhode Island, and there’s currently a blank space where the name of her wedding dress designer should be.
Givenchy creative director Sarah Burton, designer of the Alexander McQueen dress Kate Middleton wore down the aisle to marry Prince William in 2011, is currently the top tip to create the gown.
Vivienne Westwood, the label behind Swift’s gowns for The Tortured Poets Department set on The Eras Tour, is another front-runner.
The wedding vibes from the Schiaparelli gown designed by Daniel Roseberry, worn by Swift to the 2024 Grammys, have put the Parisian label in the running.
Swift is unlikely to wear something borrowed but could still pick something true blue from an Australian label. Here are the contenders.
Maticevski
Few things could improve Melbourne designer Toni Maticevski’s year following a standout Australian Fashion Week show, but creating Swift’s wedding dress would be white icing on the cake.
The pair is a perfect fit, with Swift wearing a white Maticevski gown in the video for her single Fortnight. The Candescence gown from Maticevski’s spring 2024 collection features in the video’s opening scenes.
It’s unlikely that Swift will wear the same gown, especially as rival pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen of Call Me Maybe fame wore the Candescence for her October wedding.
The ribbon-embroidered Making Waves is a more contemporary consideration.
Paolo Sebastian
With the gown from his A Lover’s Kiss collection worn by Swift in her The Fate of Ophelia video last year, South Australian dressmaker Paul Vasileff is another designer that could make it down the aisle.
Vasileff’s label Paolo Sebastian is known for its immaculately crafted ornate dresses, worn by Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Anya Taylor-Joy and the wedding gown worn by Delta Goodrem in Malta last year for her marriage to Matthew Copley.
When approached to discuss their relationship with the chart-topper, a member of the Paolo Sebastian team said that they were unable to comment on Taylor Swift, which only fuels rumours.
The heart on the bodice of the dress worn by Swift in the video may be too obvious for a wedding, but the French Lyon lace gown with ballgown skirt from the spring 2026 Paolo Sebastian collection Forget Me Not brims with European elegance.
Zimmermann
Swift has been wearing a lot of Zimmermann lately. On the night of the Met Gala, she showed up in London wearing the Australian label’s darkly romantic floral Luna dress.
At the wedding of Kelce’s teammate George Karlaftis in Greece she wore a blue beaded Zimmermann picnic dress, called the Rebellion Mermaid.
Back in 2024, Swift wore a cream scalloped Zimmermann dress with floral details to supermodel Karen Elson’s wedding. Obviously, Swift associates Australia’s most successful luxury fashion label with weddings, so why not wear it to her main event?
The lace-panelled V-neck Charm Star Slip Dress from the brand’s autumn 2020 collection, worn by Swift in the 2020 video for Willow, has bridal energy, but the singer might be looking for more edge.
At Paris Fashion Week in March, designer Nicky Zimmermann paid tribute to strong-willed women with a collection called Trailblazer.
A corset dress with lingerie details could add some rock ‘n’ roll to the romantic occasion.
Outside chance: Velani
Following Delta Goodrem’s showstopping appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest in a custom Velani $23,000 gown with 7000 Swarovski crystals, designer Nicky Apostolopoulos must be on Swift’s radar.
“Taylor is the ultimate all-American sweetheart, so I can definitely picture her as a very romantic and feminine bride,” Apostolopoulos says.
“And let’s be honest, it’s Taylor Swift, so there will be multiple outfit changes with a ceremony gown, a cake cutting dress, a first dance look and a fun reception outfit. I can see her embracing and supporting multiple designers.”
The almost going away outfit: Dion Lee
Australian designer Dion Lee was present, in fabric at least, for a pivotal point in Swift and Kelce’s relationship.
Swift wore a black corset by Lee to watch Kelce’s Super Bowl win with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024. The risqué choice made headlines.
A sheer corset dress from Lee’s new label Haelo could repeat the winning formula, although perhaps it’s more likely to appear at the wedding’s after-after-party.
