Great for areas with limited space

This yoga mat from Retrospec Zuma is thick but firm, not squishy, so it is easy to balance on. The surface is truly non-slip, allowing confident movement from pose to pose. Its thickness helps cushion my knees when performing kneeling asanas, but it is so firm that I still have some discomfort in my hips and tailbone when performing supine positions. When first opened there is a slight manufacturing odor, but it soon dissipates.

I had some trouble at first getting this mat to lay flat, but rolling it up in reverse for a minute or so allows it to lay perfectly flat when you unroll it. It does take some muscle to roll this 1/2 inch thick mat and the elastic carry strap that comes with it is not adjustable, so the mat unrolls some to an inconvenient to carry circumference.

The mat has an attractive yet subtle surface design and the pale sage green of the one I got is pretty and has a calming aura. Its smaller size of 6 feet by 2 feet takes up less space than the other yoga mats I have, allowing use in cramped surroundings.

The mat is made of nontoxic TPE and looks as though it will be durable. It does tend to pick up cat fur, but that is a problem that holds true with anything placed on the floor in our multi-cat household.

I ordered the Retrospec Zuma Yoga Mat because I recently joined an in-person yoga class and I quickly realized that I needed to upgrade my image beyond my older, incredibly thin travel mat that has been stored away in a dark, back corner of my closet for far too long. The Retrospec mat is genuinely nice overall, and it is nearly equal in quality to my Zeesa Na Premium Natural Rubber Yoga Mat, which serves as my trusted, permanent stay-at-home mat.

I deeply appreciate the longer length of this new Retrospec mat because it gives me a clear sense of more defined personal space within my busy yoga class, while also offering more than enough room to comfortably perform Pilates and general floor exercise routines. The generous one half inch thickness puts my former back corner closet mat to absolute shame, especially since the Retrospec mat maintains a wonderful balance between supportive firmness and comfortable cushioning.

The Retrospec mat is beautifully designed, and I chose the ocean blue colored option, which provides a truly calming color palette during a rigorous session. I do not believe that the Retrospec mat has the same long-term durability as my premium Zeesa Na mat given its specific foam design characteristics, and it certainly does not come with the impressive ten-year assurance guarantee that accompanies the Zeesa Na brand.

The Retrospec mat boasts a great price-to-value ratio, with the primary contributing factor to that stellar value being its generous one half inch thickness. This added layer of thickness provides critical additional protection and shock absorption on the hard floor whenever I fail at a particularly difficult pose or balance technique. It is a fantastic 72 x 24 inch mat that serves my needs.

I was pleasantly surprised by this yoga mat. Right out of the box, it comes tightly rolled with a strap that doubles as a carrying strap, simple and practical.

One of the first things I checked was the thickness, and it measures out right at the advertised 1/2 inch. That extra thickness makes a noticeable difference. When using it, my hands and especially my knees felt well-cushioned without the mat feeling overly soft or unstable. It strikes a nice balance between comfort and support.

After unrolling it, I let it sit for about 5–10 minutes, and it relaxed very well. It didn’t stay tightly curled like some mats do, which is a big plus if you don’t want to fight with the edges during a workout.

The size is standard for a yoga mat (about 2 feet wide), which is ideal for classes. I actually have a wider mat at home, but that wouldn’t be practical to take into a class setting, this one is much more appropriate for that use.

Another thing I noticed is how lightweight it feels. It actually seems lighter than a thinner mat I own, which makes it easier to carry. That likely comes from the foam construction, which also contributes to the comfort.

The only long-term question is durability, since it’s lighter and less dense, it remains to be seen how it will hold up over time. But based on initial use, it’s comfortable, easy to handle, and performs exactly as you’d want.

Overall, this is a very good, comfortable yoga mat that should work well for most people, especially if you want extra cushioning without added bulk or weight.

This yoga mat isn't very comfortable to me. It's not very thick and it feels quite hard compared to my other yoga mat of a separate brand.

I appreciate that this mat is easy to clean and I like the color options! I also like that it comes with a strap. It just kind of reminds me of grade school yoga mats in terms of comfort, unfortunately.

I also don't think the value for the money is very good at almost $40 for a fairly thin and not super comfortable yoga mat. I can't really recommend this product.

First off–I was so grateful that this didn't have any kind of plastic or chemical smell. I really expected it to but it did not. Second, this mat is very thick! It can sometimes be painful for me to be barefoot, but this mat was so thick and springy that it both cushioned my heels and supported my arches.

It also didn't slide around on my tile floors, probably because the underside has a grippy texture. The color is nice, not as boring as black but not pale enough to get stained. Because it is so thick, I think it will stand up to a lot of yoga posing, and it doesn't seem like it will peel either. It is also very long, so it could definitely provide enough padding for a tall person.

Lastly, I love the carry strap and the fact that it is such a flexible elastic. I was concerned I'd have to wrap it tight to fit into the carry strap but I did not need to!

I have absolutely no need for a yoga mat for yoga purposes, but I figured it'd come in handy for something else. It's pretty thick, cushy, and quite large. Doesn't like to roll out flat initially. It's nonslip, which is nice. I've been using it to kneel or sit on when I have to do something on the floor or ground to protect my knees.
